Stars held, Jabloteh, Connection keep course

Leslie Fitzpatrick netted late to earn North East Stars a point against a ferocious Defence Force on Saturday afternoon at the Larry Gomes Stadium.

Fitzpatrick on loan with the Sangre Grande based club from his United Soccer Leagues (USL) club Atlanta Silverbacks in his second match for the Pro League outfit scored an 85th minute item to end the match 3-3.

Defence Force already out of the Lucozade Sport Big Six in 8th position gave it their all and held a 3-2 advantage over Stars at the end of the first half.

League leading goalscorer Devon Jorsling netted his 21st item in the 39th minute for the Soldiers following items by teammates Jerwin Balthazar(31’) and Christon Baptiste(34’).

The Stars are remain 5th on the standings with 40 points, below Joe Public with a lesser goal difference.

Meantime leaders CLICO San Juan Jabloteh and W Connection continue to keep course at the top following victories on Saturday in the final match of Round Three.

Jabloteh boosted their points to 61 after trashing fourth placed Joe Public 3-0 at the Larry Gomes Stadium in their first period.

Jason Marcano(23’), Marvin Oliver(29’) and captain Trent Noel(32’) were all on the scoresheet.

While W Connection overcame third positioned Neal and Massy Caledonia AIA with a 2-0 finish.

And a win on Monday 17 November at the Ato Boldon Stadium from 5pm against Joe Public in a rescheduled match for W Connection can propel the Stuart Charles Fevrier coached side ahead of Jabloteh after Round Three.

A highly anticipated clash against 6th and 7th positioned St Ann’s Rangers and United Petrotrin did not play on Saturday and is rescheduled for later date.

Rangers and Petrotrin are both with 34 points, with the first mentioned just ahead on goals difference and just need a draw to secure their Big Six spot.
