Nathaniel James double lifts Jabloteh U13 over Police; San Juan Kings lead all FYPL divisions

San Juan Jabloteh, for the first time this season, are holding the lead in all three divisions in the 2017 Flow Youth Pro League.

Jabloteh, champions of all divisions in the previous two seasons, have held top spots in this season’s Under-17 and Under-15 divisions since March 19 and April 30, respectively. But the defending champions have been trailing Police FC in the Under-13 division since April 9.

That’s until last Sunday though.

The little San Juan Kings, lifted by a double from leading scorer Nathaniel James, registered a 4-1 win over their Police U13 counterparts at San Juan North Secondary school ground in Bourg Mulatresse to hurdle the visitors for top spot on the standings, albeit separated only by a monstrous goal-difference (+60/+32).

James notched his 26th and 27th items of the season by hitting the back of the Police net in the 4th and 18th minutes, respectively, for the Jabloteh U13s.

Jaheim Faustin had made it two-nil on 6 minutes with his tenth goal of the season before Police’s Jaheim Manswell sliced the hosts’ lead in the 10th-minute.

But after James’ second item and Deshawn Brown making it 4-1 two minutes before the break, and a scoreless second half, both teams are now tied on 37 points.

Defence Force, the only other side to take points from Police U13s this season with a 2-2 draw on May 21, were held to a 3-3 draw by visiting North East Stars at Trinity College East on Sunday.

Later on the day Nicholas Smith snatched the winner as Defence Force U15s edged the Stars 2-1 after an own goal by the hosts had levelled a second-half item by Trinidad and Tobago U15 forward Justin Araujo-Wilson.

Stars, however, stormed back in the U17 division thump the cellar-placed Defence Force 6-0.

T&T U17 player Kishawn Hackshaw provided a second-half double for the Stars while national teammate John-Paul Rochford, Jorel Grant, Jonathan Glodon, and Keon Boney, who debuted for the Stars top-flight Pro League team in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Point Fortin Civic, each had a goal.

The victory kept the Stars three points adrift of U17 leaders Jabloteh (33 points), who edged Police 1-0 courtesy a 74th-minute Rivaldo Coryat strike, while W Connection (26 points) hurdled St. Ann’s Rangers for third.

Connection, who started the day with 5-0 win over visiting Civic in the U13 division, ended the day at Union Recreation Ground in similar fashion by defeating the Point Fortin side 5-0 in the U17 category.

Jevaughn Humphrey, who scored four goals a week ago in Connection’s 5-4 win over Police, grabbed a doubled against Civic while team-mates Caleb Gasper, Denilson Benjamin and Tyrike Andrews each had a goal.

Civic, though, didn’t return home empty-handed. A second-half converted penalty by Ezekiel Kezar had earned them a narrow 1-0 win over Connection in the U15 division.

Civic moved up a spot into fourth, but are 13 points away from U15 leaders Jabloteh (36 points).

A double from Micai Peters separated by a strike from team-mate Tyrese Pierre earned Jabloteh a 3-1 win over Police to stretch their lead to nine points.

Play in the Flow YPL continues on Thursday with Point Fortin Civic hosting Central FC in rescheduled U13, U15 and U17 fixtures at Mahaica Oval.

On Saturday all teams will return to action in Round Two Match Day Six at venues across Trinidad. Defence Force will host Central at Trinity College East; North East Stars will welcome Club Sando at Ojoe Road Recreation Ground in Sangre Grande; San Juan Jabloteh travels to Mahaica Oval against Civic; St. Ann’s Rangers will visit neighbours Police FC at St. James Barracks, and Morvant Caledonia United are hosts to W Connection at
