Stars sack coaches Shurland David, Arnold Dwarika

Stars sack coaches Shurland David, Arnold DwarikaDIRECTV North East Stars football club has parted ways with local coaches Shurland David and assistant coach Arnold Dwarika just three matches into the 2011-2012 season.

According to a source close to the club, David and Dwarika were informed of the decision by the club on Monday night, one day before Tuesday’s Digicel Pro League Championship Round One Match Day Two clash against Caledonia AIA at the Marvin Lee Stadium.

The firing came following a string of undesirable results in the Stars opening three matches this season with a 2-1 defeat against debutants T&TEC FC on Saturday 10 September in Round One Match Day One of the League Championship and First Citizens Cup quarterfinal round Group B defeats against W Connection 4-1 and Caledonia AIA 2-1 for an early exit.

The 37 yearold David first took up the post as interim head coach in late June of 2010 after the club parted ways with American coach Rod Underwood. David went on to lead the Stars to the Lucozade Sport Goal Shield title, and also reaching the Finals of the FA Trophy and FA Trophy.

On Tuesday night North East Stars—with Director of Football Kevin Jeffrey standing in charge for League match against Caledonia—went on to win the match 1-0 win with defender Seon Power registering the winning item in the 55th minute.

When quizzed on the axing of Coach David and assistant coach Dwarika, North East Stars CEO Brent Sancho said that the club will give an official comment on Wednesday.
