Top-four clash at Couva

Central without suspended Oliver and Guerra

Central FC head coach Terry Fenwick will be forced to demonstrate his improvising skills on Friday, when the “Sharks” tackle Point Fortin Civic from 8 pm at the Ato Boldon Stadium.

Fenwick stands without the services of influential midfield duo, Marvin Oliver and Ataulla Guerra, who are both suspended on cards.

Veteran Oliver through an accumulation of cards, while Guerra picked up a red card during his team's 3-0 win against league leader W Connection a week ago.

Connection and North East Stars are expected to heat up the Couva venue from 6 pm, in the first of the Round Three Match Day Four top of the table double header on Friday.

Connection leads the Digicel Pro League standings with 40 points, and eight points behind are second positioned Central, third positioned Civic and fourth positioned Stars, all tied with 32 points.

Connection, defeated just twice in the league this season, enjoys a 12:4:2 record, and head coach Stuart Charles Fevrier isn’t short of talent despite the return of striker Shahdon Winchester to Finland’s FF Jaro.

The “Savonnetta Boys”, determined to maintain a strong lead and hold on for the title, have defeated the Sangre Grande club 2-0 in both previous league meetings this season, and Fevrier surely wants a third.

Stars head coach Angus Eve meanwhile, usually very tactical defensively, should try and get it right by the third try, while depending on the prowess of speedy striker Trevin Caesar up front.

The Stars are enjoying a 7-match undefeated run and a 3-match winning streak - hence the club's position on the ladder - all since its last defeat to Connection.

Meanwhile Central are boasting a 12-match undefeated streak, and were 3-0 winners over Civic in Round One, and played to a goalless draw in Round Two against the Point Fortin outfit.

But it would surely be interesting to see the roles of available midfielders Darren Mitchell, Jason Marcano, Leston Paul or Sean de Silva behind key striker Willis Plaza, against the likes of a collectively solid Civic, who boasts the likes of Marcus Joseph, Andre Toussaint, Nickholson Thomas and Kelvin Modeste.
