Central FC head coach Terry Fenwick, for a fourth time this season, has been named the Blue Waters Coach of the Month.

Fenwick, who is set to join Belgian lower division outfit Cercle Sportif Visé later this month, was named Coach of the Month for April, while Defence Force attacker Josimar Belgrave for the first time this season picked up the Wendy’s Player of the Month award.

He led the “Sharks” to five victories during the month, including a 2-1 win over rivals W Connection in the Final of the Lucozade Sport Goal Shield (LSGS).

Other results included, twice defeating Caledonia AIA 5-1 (in the Digicel Pro League – DPL) and 4-0 (in the quarterfinal round of the LSGS), 4-1 (in the DPL) against Police FC, and 2-0 (in the LSGS semis) against North East Stars but lost 2-1 (in the DPL) against the Sangre Grande club.

However Fenwick, who won the award in September, February and March, picked up the award again for April.

Belgrave meanwhile scored 5 goals in six matches for Defence Force during the month of April, including a hat-trick against Caledonia in the DPL.

Belgrave’s performances helped the army/coastguard combination stay within a top-two finish in the DPL during April, although bowing to a third positioned finish behind second positioned Central last Tuesday.

“I think my performances were fair,” Belgrave believes. “But that still didn’t help us to reach where wanted to be in the end.

“Our entire camp is disappointed. We needed just a point (against San Juan Jabloteh) but we faltered. There is as much as the coaches can do and in the end we (the players) failed.”

Defence Force were defeated 1-0 in their final DPL match against Jabloteh, allowing Central to jump ahead on goals difference for the second position finish behind champions W Connection.

“This season it was very difficult for us for a number of reasons, including losing one of our better players (Kevon Carter) to a heart attack. Knowing the kind of player he was and the personality he had we really wanted to defend our title for him, but didn’t,” ended the disappointed Defence Force player.
