Moe wants more Caledonia wins

Moe wants more Caledonia winsCaledonia AIA is hunting a place in the 2010-2011 season Digicel Pro Bowl Final when they contest defending champs Joe Public from 6pm on Friday at the Hasely Crawford Stadium and assistant coach Jerry Moe says, “It’s about who wants it more.”

“It’s about the attitude during the game,” he continued.

“Joe Public is Joe Public. They have a new coach in (Rajesh) Latchoo but the same backroom staff. And I have a fair idea of what he can do having playing against their Super League team (in the Toyota Classic) with Latchoo as the coach of the team. He is a good coach but we are familiar with their style and they have an idea of what to expect from us.”

Caledonia reached the semi-final round with a 2-0 victory over Ma Pau SC on Tuesday night at the Marvin Lee Stadium in their quarterfinal round clash with strikers Keyon Edwards(39th minute) and Kevon Woodley(74th minute) the scorers.

Caledonia is also celebrating its place in the Caribbean Football Union Club Champions Cup Second Round with a 5-0 hammering of St. Kitts/Nevis club Newtown United on Saturday at the Hasely Crawford Stadium for a 6-0 aggregate win.

Moe explained that Caledonia’s run of form is now a habit adding, “It’s not just of late that we are winning. We have been in a good run of form from the Second Round of the League and that’s because the guys are now understanding what needs to be done.”

He further enlightened, “It’s important now how we manage it as a coaching staff. We need to know when to give our guys a break and how to keep them in form. Because once you’re on top you have to try and stay on top.”

Ryan Stuart doubtful for semi-final

Instrumental midfielder Ryan Stuart has a question mark over his availability for Friday’s clash against the defending champs.

Stuart who scored the opening item in Saturday’s 5-0 win over Newtown missed Tuesday’s Pro Bowl quarterfinal win over Ma Pau with a calve injury.

“He(Stuart) missed the Ma Pau game with a calve injury picked up against Newtown and will only know by Thursday afternoon if he will be back in the squad on Friday,” said Jerry Moe.

Woodley(Would he) score again

Jerry Moe and Head Coach Jamaal Shabazz will have available, recently signed Tobagonian Kevon Woodley who currently riding a one hundred percent wave with two goals in his first two matches for the Morvant/Laventille club.

The lanky former Tobago United player scored coming off the bench against Newtown United in the CFU Club Champions Cup first round second leg and against Ma Pau on Tuesday in the Digicel Pro Bowl quarterfinal round.

And the question remains…would he score again in his third outing for Caledonia?

One thing for certain, Caledonia is hoping that the forward continues his fine form.

“Kevon is a player I’ve always been impressed with while he was at Tobago United,” said Caledonia assistant coach Moe.

“I don’t know what was wrong at his former clubs United Petrotrin and W Connection, but he is fitting in well with us and finding the back.”

Moe hopes that Woodley will now build on his overall performance at the Morvant/Laventille club.

“It’s now important for him to be consistent in scoring and work on other areas of his game such as holding up the ball and bringing the midfielders into the game,” ended Moe.
