Police Technical Director credits change in attitude

Police Technical Director credits change in attitudePolice FC Technical Director Muhammad Isa has credited the change in attitude of players for their recent win in the Digicel Pro Bowl qualifier over St Ann’s Rangers.

The Lawmen ended the regular season second from bottom of the ten-team table with only two wins and three draws from 18 matches for nine points, three more than FC South End. However, after failing to make an impact in the Lucozade Sports Goal Shield and First Citizens Cup competition, Police dumped St Ann’s Rangers 2-1 in their round of 16 of the Toyota Classic before falling to Joe Public (Super League) 2-1 in their quarterfinal.

Police showed its win over Rangers was no fluke when it registered a comprehensive 4-0 whipping in their Digicel Pro Bowl qualifier at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Malabar on Saturday to earn a spot in the quarterfinal, alongside DirecTV North East Stars, title-holder bmobile Joe Public, Caledonia, W Connection, San Juan Jabloteh, Ma Pau and Defence Force.

After his team’s victory on Friday night, Isa a former national coach said the mood in the camp is very upbeat with this win.

“Its the final tournament of the 2010/2011 season and the guys wanted to show that the previous win over Rangers was no mistake and at this point we are seeing a lot of improvement, both at the managerial and players’ level.”
With the 2010/2011 all but over Isa said his team had already started planning for the next season.

Asked what he felt was the reason for the team’s improvement on the pitch, Isa said it was attitude. “Definitely the guys have shown a great change in attitude. There is a lot more commitment."

Looking ahead to the Pro Bowl quarterfinals, Isa sounded a warning to the other clubs and said his team had nothing to lose. “We have tasted defeat so much during the course of the season so we know what it feels like and we are not afraid of any of the clubs. Actually I believe they will be more afraid of us,” ended Isa.
